The sun is still shining on-farm

In a nice opinion piece, the Dominion writer Jon Morgan, writes that;

  • Our commodity outlook is still strong with Asia, our main market, insulated from the worst of the current financial crises.
  • European milk production is on the rise and the US is looking for opportunities in our export markets, but that won't be enough to meet the 75 per cent growth in milk demand predicted over the next four years in five regions - China, India, Southeast Asia, the Middle East and North Africa.
  • Our free trade deal with China is a money spinner and one just like it with India can't be far away.
  • The BNZ is sure the pain, if any, of global financial uncertainty will be light and short-lived and outweighed by the better times to come.

Is Jon accurate with his view?  Time will tell but we at MyFarm share his confidence in the medium to long term future for pastoral farming.
