MyFarm Management

YOU ARE IN VERY EXPERIENCED HANDS

MyFarm has a team of seven experienced supervisors who work with our Equity Managers to achieve the goals of each farm business. Many have been hands-on famers themselves. The supervisors act as a conduit between farm investors and on-farm management. Their responsibilities include:
  • Ensuring that there is a good financial budget in place that has the support of investors and manager
  • Ensuring that good common-sense farming practices are in place
  • Helping managers achieve production and profit targets
  • Protecting and building capital through the appropriate development and maintenance of the farm
  • Ensuring that the business complies with key legislation and regulation
  • Managing staff performance
  • Negotiating agreements for bulk purchasing of farm supplies, stock and feed
  • Regular farm and financial reporting to shareholders.
MyFarm supervisors are typically on-farm for a formal meeting every month; they with the manager assess performance, address any outstanding issues with feed supply and demand, herd management, financial performance and the development of the farm asset.
The supervisor may also visit informally, particularly at busy times or where there is a decision point. It is the supervisor’s role to ensure any replacement stock grazed off the farm are being appropriately monitored.

TERRY CARR
Southland Supervisor and Equity Partner

In 2005, after more than 15 years sharemilking, Terry and his wife Jacqui, along with four other investors, formed a dairy farm syndicate (equity partnership) on an 850-cow farm in South Otago. Six years on, the farm now milks 1200 cows and employs a contract milker. Terry and Jacqui have moved on from being hands-on Equity Managers. Terry now works alongside our three other supervisors in Southland, Steven Blyth, Wayne Taylor and Lyn Berry, applying his expertise to the supervision of 25 MyFarm dairy syndicates in that region.

MYFARM ADMINISTRATION

MyFarm has a team of experienced farm administrators based in Feilding and Invercargill. Each administrator is responsible for a group of individual farm businesses, and works closely with the manager and MyFarm Supervisor to manage shareholder communication, process monthly accounts and payrolls, manage stock reconciliations, ensure compliance documentation is complete and pay shareholder dividends. They have an important role in observing tight fiscal discipline that is audited.
