Farms General Manager - Gareth Evans

As Farms General Manager Gareth Evans oversees the operation of 31 farm companies supervised by MyFarm in New Zealand and Australia.
Since joining MyFarm in 2008 Gareth has supervised the completion of conversions from forestry to dairy in the central North Island; overseen the company's move into four new farm syndicates in the Canterbury region and has been instrumental in achieving production targets on MyFarm's three Australian farm syndicates.
In his previous role as Director of Agriculture Services at Massey University Gareth was responsible for the administration of the university’s nine farms covering 2200ha adjacent to the university campus. The job required him to balance the need for farm research and teaching with managing a commercial operation.
Gareth is also brings experience as a young sharemilker to his role. He sharemilked for two years in Manawatu and Waikato before returning to Massey to manage one its dairy farms in the late 1990’s.
Gareth has worked internationally as a dairy production consultant. He travelled to Argentina and China under government grants to assist small herd dairy farms establish the New Zealand model of pastoral dairy production systems.

  Farms Operation Manager - Grant Payton

Grant Payton has a crucial role in the communication between farm investors and on farm management in his role as Farms Operations Manager.
Grant is involved with overseeing all MyFarm syndicated Southland properties in conjunction with Terry Carr and has been in this role for the past 4 years.
He ensures that shareholders and farm managers have shared objectives and then works with them at the farm level to achieve the desired production and financial outcomes as well as oversee all development and implementation of farm development projects. Grant provides regular farm and financial reports to all shareholders and deals on a direct basis with farm management and service agents for the farms.
Main roles: 
Farm supervision, communications and reporting, equity manager recruitment, procurement and logistics.
 
  Southland farm supervisor - Terry Carr

After more than 15 years sharemilking, in 2005 Terry and his wife Jacqui and four other investors formed a dairy farm syndicate (equity partnership) in an 850-cow South Otago farm. Terry and Jacqui have since moved from their initial role as hands-on equity managers and the partnership now employs a contract milker on a 1200 cow unit.
As Southland farm supervisor Terry is supervising 12 Southland farm syndicates working closely with MyFarm operations manager, Grant Payton and equity managers focussing on achieving business goals and regular reporting and communication with shareholders.

Sheep/Beef, Projects - David Marshall
BCOMM, CA
David Marshall is a qualified accountant, a director of the sheep breed company Kelso, and has interests in dairy, sheep, beef and cropping farms in New Zealand and Australia. His family farm, in the Rangitikei region of the North Island includes an expanding 900-cow dairy block, cropping, sheep and beef finishing. He has also invested in four large-scale farms in Western Victoria during the past ten years. He currently retains a large shareholding in a 700-cow dairy farm he managed through conversion, at Warrnambool. Since joining MyFarm in 2007 David has played a key role in the due diligence, capital raising and business planning for MyFarm syndications.
 

 

 
Sales Manager - Matt Harrington
Matt joined MyFarm in 2010 after 17 years with the ASB bank. He was in the bank’s rural team based in Canterbury from 2001-2009 and for the last three years his role was focused on identifying and facilitating farm syndicate investment opportunities for clients. He has also personally  invested in two farm equity partnerships, in Canterbury.
Matt's financial experience means he’s very adept at identifying credit risks and he has also built up good knowledge about Canterbury dairy farming, in particular around irrigation.
Matt’s role with MyFarm is syndication. This involves assisting with sourcing properties and opportunities, with a key part being the bringing together of investors and equity managers.
 
 
 
MyFarm Administration Manager - Sandra Phippen

As accounts and office manager Sandra Phippen oversees the administration of the 31 farm companies supervised by MyFarm.
Sandra manages the company’s Feilding office and her team is responsible for all farm administration including monthly accounts, payrolls, Compliance payments and shareholderdividend payments. 
Sandra has had a wide and varied career in the New Zealand dairy industry starting with ten years from leaving school at a former Waikato milk processing company. She is a former sharemilker and AGInvest equity manager. Over the past 20 years she and her husband, Paul have managed large herd dairy farms in North Canterbury, Waikato, Hawke’s Bay and Manawatu. She is also an investor in a current MyFarm syndicate, Hedgehope in Southland and was a shareholder in two syndicates which have now been successfully capitalised.

Sales and Director's Executive - Tracey Beavan
B AppSci, Dip Bus Admin, M Mgmt (Agribusiness)
Tracey Beavan brings a breadth of experience in agriculture and business to her role as Sales and Director’s Executive. She has worked on farms in New Zealand and abroad and prior to joining MyFarm in 2005 gained 10 years experience in sales in various agribusiness companies, including a role as product manager for AFFCO NZ’s retail division.
Tracey is a pivotal member of the MyFarm team as liaison to the Directors and leading the farm syndication process. Tracey works with legal advisers to prepare investment documents and is the first point of contact for new investors.
