This 9.26 cha SunGold orchard is located inland from Whakatane on the ‘Golden Rise’, an area known for its lack of wind, warmer spring conditions, high sunshine hours and early winter chilling. These conditions mean fruit ripens early, which enables the orchard to take advantage of early season premium prices paid by Zespri under its Kiwistart initiative.
The syndicate is an owner operator model – with management contracted to Southern Cross Horticulture Limited, a developer and manager of high-quality kiwifruit orchards.
