Te Mata Coolstore is well located close to major transportation routes in the heart land of New Zealand’s apple capital – Hawkes Bay.
The facility is leased by Freshmax – global processor and exporter of fresh produce, and a management partner in other MyFarm investment syndicates.
More broadly, the region continues to see growth in bare land development of apple orchards and other food & beverage products that require chilling facilities. In the apple orchard space, higher density plantings, improved/new husbandry practices and bare land development is likely to see volumes grow by 6-7% per annum alone.
The current site is 3.62 hectares in size and contains twelve coolstores with a total footprint of 7,000 square metres. Of this, eight coolstores are considered ‘modern’ with a total footprint of 4,900 square metres and flexible format. The remaining coolstore area is of a more traditional style and there are some other sundry storage and office buildings.
