Global sales of craft beer are projected to reach US$100 billion by 2025.

This is good for New Zealand because our spray-free aroma hops are highly prized by international brewers for their unique flavours. They are also in short supply.

New Zealand hop production accounts for less than 1% of global production. The majority (85-90%) comprises aroma and specialty hops of which 80-85% are exported.

New Zealand’s hop industry is based in Nelson and until recently was heavily regulated. Deregulation has provided opportunities for new entrants, including Hop Revolution, a producer and marketer of hops and MyFarm’s operational partner in hop garden syndicates. Hop Revolution has secured the rights to grow licensed New Zealand hop varieties and is forging direct supply agreements with international brewers. The company is also working with brewers to develop new hop varieties and flavours.
